With the aim of continuing the realisation of our slogan - ”more than a language, a culture” Colonial Spanish School has created a course that allows students to learn Spanish through total language immersion.  By eliminating the traditional classroom walls and moving the classroom to a more natural setting, we make the process of learning Spanish more direct, continuous and interesting.  Everything can be a learning experience!

Teacher and student travel together from Quito to their final destination, and both teacher and student live together with a local family.  A lot of time is spent with your family, which helps foster language development as well as knowledge about the life and customs of the Ecuadorian people.  Meals, which constitute an important part of Ecuadorian life and culture, are prepared and eaten together.

We also organize excursions for students and teachers to various sites around the village.  Destinations typically include indigenous markets, cultural houses (museums, etc.), as well as beaches, mountains, and national parks.

As with our other courses, the Study & Travel program includes 4 hours of regular class per day.  Class schedules, however, are flexible and determined by teacher and student.  During non-class time, students are free to explore the local village or its surrounding areas, or just relax as they see fit.  Click here to see a sample itinerary for one of our Study & Travel Programs.
 

Destinations

Colonial has forged relationships with a number of Ecuadorian communities located on the coast, in the Orient (the jungle), and in the Sierra (the mountains).  Travel is possible to each of these places, depending on the desires of the student.  Or, if there is a particular community or location that you have in mind, please contact us and we will be happy to try to accommodate you.
